Accreditation And Privileges of Doctors

Accredited doctors are required to confine their practice to their speciality and the clinical privileges for which they have been granted within the scope of that speciality.

Credentialing Criteria

The applicant must:

  • Be registered with the Singapore Medical Council (for medical specialists) or Singapore Dental Council (for dental specialists)
  • For medical specialists - Be listed in the Register of Specialists and hold the Certificate of Specialist Registration or equivalent for 3 years
  • For dental specialists - Be listed in the Register of Specialists and hold the Certificate of Specialist Registration or equivalent
  • Have two supporting references – the “Affirmation of Competence” forms should preferably be completed by the applicant’s department head and immediate supervisor or a consultant of three years standing who has worked with the applicant in the preceding 3 years.

Conditions and Terms for Doctors Granted Accreditation and Privileges

All doctors granted accreditation and clinical privileges to Parkway hospitals shall:

  • Comply with all hospital policies and regulations
  • Comply with all Government policies and regulations
  • comply with the Ethical Code and Ethical Guidelines of the Singapore Medical Council (SMC)/Singapore Dental Council (SDC)
  • Be expected to treat all nursing and other employees of the hospital with dignity
  • Be expected to raise concerns on the quality of care rendered to their patient through the employees’ supervisor or through the relevant standing-committee of the Medical Advisory Board

Re-credentialling

A document update and re-privileging exercise shall be conducted once every three years.
