Singapore HEALTH (Helping Employees Achieve Life-Time Health) Award 2008
Parkway Hospitals Singapore Pte Ltd and Parkway Shenton Pte Ltd won Gold Awards in the Singapore HEALTH Award 2008, which was organised by the Health Promotion Board to give recognition to organisations with commendable Workplace Health Promotion (WHP) programmes. Parkway Hospitals Singapore had won Bronze and Silver awards in previous years, while Parkway Shenton won a Silver in 2006.
Parkway Hospitals Singapore and Parkway Shenton have initiated numerous programmes to encourage their staff to lead healthy lifestyles. Parkway Hospitals Singapore has organised pilates, salsa and qigong lessons for interested staff, while Parkway Shenton counts an in-house Vertical Marathon within its office building and a bowling tournament among the activities it has organised to encourage staff to lead healthy lifestyles.
Lifelong Learner Award 2008
Parkway Group Healthcare Pte Ltd was among six winners in the Corporate Category of the Lifelong Learning Awards 2008, which were organised by Mediacorp Pte Ltd in collaboration with the Singapore Workforce Development Agency, and partners NTUC and Spring Singapore. The award is in recognition of ParkwayHealth's creation of a work environment which encourages learning and productivity.
As part of ParkwayHealth's talent development initiative, the company has rolled out the Healthcare Executive Residency Program for people who are inspired to establish a career in the field of healthcare. ParkwayHealth has also implemented the performance management process, which encourages openness in performance dialogues between supervisors and employees, so that they can jointly assess performance and identify the employees' learning & development needs.
Editor's Choice Award for Emerging CRO Company of Singapore for 2008
Gleneagles CRC Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Parkway Holdings Limited, was honoured with the very first Editor's Choice Award for Emerging CRO (Contract Research Organization) Company of Singapore for 2008 by BioSpectrum Asia, Asia's most widely circulated life sciences magazine. The editors of BioSpectrum made their decision to hand the award to Gleneagles CRC due to its innovative business model, and potential to emerge as an industry leader in the near future.

2006 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Healthcare Best Practice Award
GleneaglesCRC (Clinical Research Centre) was given the award for Asian Clinical Research Organisation (CRO) of the Year (Singapore) at the 2006 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Healthcare Best Practices Awards.
Set up in 1999, and spearheaded by CEO Dr Yap Kok Wei, GleneaglesCRC is a full service CRO which provides clinical trial management services and analysis of clinical data to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical devices companies which conduct clinical trials in Asia.
This Award is presented to companies who have demonstrated the best practices in their industry for commitment and innovative business strategies required to advance in the global marketplace. Benchmarked against the highest standards, the recipients of these awards represent the best-in-class in the Asia Pacific region.
Asian Hospital Management Award
Gleneagles Hospital has won at the Asian Hospital Management Award for two years running - in 2003 and 2004.
In 2003, it won for the category of "Internal Service", and in 2004, for the category of 'Best Customer Service', where there were over 165 entries covering 56 hospitals from 11 countries vying for the accolade.
Gleneagles understands that customers today have very high expectations of service, hence everyone at the hospital is trained to provide not just five, excel, providing the highest possible level of care and service.
This award affirms their belief that programmes like Greet, Smile and Thank, or 'GST' as it is affectionately called, puts the hospital on the right track in achieving service excellence.
Not only has the 'GST' culture raised service standards, it has also improved staff morale. - and when employees are happy, inspiring customers will come naturally. It is indeed heartening to know that our peers in the healthcare community recognise the success of the 'GST ' programme.
Culinary Challenge Award
Challenging common perceptions surrounding hospital fare, our chefs at Mount Elizabeth Hospital won top accolades in a prestigious international culinary competition. Beating reputable hotel and restaurant counters, the team won the "Best Chef of the Year", and also received awards in six categories at the FHA2004 (Food & Hotel Asia 2004) Culinary Challenge (FCC).
Excellent Service Award
Gleneagles and Mount Elizabeth Hospitals are recipients of the Excellent Service Award (EXSA), a national award that recognises individuals who have delivered outstanding service.
It seeks to develop service models for staff to emulate, create service champions, and professionalise services. Organisations with EXSA staff are committed to achieving service excellence. They seek to deliver superior service through service champions in their organisations.
Family Friendly Employer Award
The Singapore Family Friendly Employer Award is conferred biennially on pro-family organisations by the Tripartite Committee on Work-Life Strategy, comprising representatives from the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS), Ministry of Manpower (MOM), Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) and National Trade Union Congress (NTUC).
Being a second-time award winner, Parkway Group Healthcare is proud to be one of the 67 recipients for the 2004 award. This award is a testament of our firm belief that adoption of family-friendly work practices will help to build a happy workforce, and project ourselves as the Employer of Choice, which can be translated to higher productivity, improved service standards, and better quality of work.

National Training Award
The National Training Award, administered by the Productivity and Standards Board (PSB) (now known as SPRING Singapore), accords recognition to companies with outstanding achievements in employee training and development. One award per year is given out in the following categories: Manufacturing, Service and SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises). It has been conferred since 1988.
In 2000, Gleneagles Hospital received the National Training Award (Service Sector Category) at the People Excellence 2000 Award Ceremony.
The award is not new to Gleneagles Hospital. In 1992, the hospital was conferred a "Certificate of Commendation" in recognition of its outstanding achievements in employee training by the then National Productivity Board, Singapore.
In 1999, Gleneagles was once again short-listed as a finalist for the award, and emerged the winner. The criteria of the award includes a qualitative analysis of training efforts based on indicators such as:
- Percentage of training budget over payroll
- Number of training places per employee
- Number of training hours per employee
- Proportion of worker training places
- Proportion of in-house training places
Qualitative indicators such as top management commitment to training, the approach taken to establish training needs, and emphasis on training results are taken into consideration by the PSB in their selection of the winner.
